What can it do?

This interface, when used with PC software, makes a sophisticated car diagnostic tool for home or small garage use. For example, this interface will allow you to:

• Read/clear engine fault codes
• View live data from engine sensors
• View status of Engine Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) self-tests
• View fault code freeze frame data
• Switch off of the 'Check Engine' light
• Display VIN information on supported cars (most 2004 onwards)

Technical Information

This interface uses the ELM 327 v1.2a chip, which is the newest addition to the ELM On-Board-Diagnostics (OBD) family.

The ELM327 transparently converts European-On-Board-Diagnostics (EOBD) and On-Board-Diagnostic Generation 2 (OBDII) data into standard ASCII characters, allowing trouble codes and operating parameters to be easily retrieved without the need for special software or hardware. No knowledge of data formatting, error checking, bus initiation etc. is needed either, as the ELM327 handles all of that for you. You don't even need to know what protocol your car 'speaks', as this IC automatically detects that for you, too.

The ELM 327 provides CAN (ISO 15765-4), as well as SAE J1850 PWM, SAE J1850 VPW, ISO 9141-2 and ISO 14230-4 support. This new interface takes the best of the ELM320, the ELM322 and the ELM323 interfaces, improves on them and adds four CAN protocols!

The CAN diagnostic protocol is currently used on a wide range of 2004+ cars in Europe. Guidelines are in place for all manufacturers to use the CAN diagnostic protocol by 2008, making this interface a good investment for the future.

This interface offers USB connection to the PC at the highest 38400bps baud-rate.

Additional information

Together with software, this interface can read/clear codes from EOBD diagnostics systems (this covers engine, powertrain and emissions faults). It will not read/clear codes from other systems, e.g. SRS, ABS or Suspension systems.

Products are shipped from the UK, so NO import duties or taxes when items are delivered.

We ship orders within one working day of receiving Paypal or credit card payments (please allow 3 working days for cheque payments to clear - Paypal eCheques tend to take one to two weeks to clear).

Orders received before 2.00 p.m. will usually be shipped same working day (Monday to Friday).

This product will be shipped by Royal Mail 1st Class 'Signed-For' mail. In most cases this will get to you next working day, but if you require guaranteed next working day delivery please contact us.

Unwanted goods can be returned within 7 days of receipt provided that they are returned 'as new' (i.e. unopened and undamaged). The customer must pay for safe carriage of the item back to us (i.e. a 'signed for' or trackable postage method).

Any product returned to us must be returned with all associated items originally sent as part of the product and in the same packaging, unless otherwise agreed with Gendan Ltd.
