The pattern is YUZEN
This is a method of using dye on fabrics which bleeds and Yuzen (the artist) perfect the painting on silk fabric by using the paste-resist method. With this method, the design is divided into smaller areas outlined with the paste which enabled the artists to work freely with colors.
This gown is a good example of textile art treated as wall art.
