The Psion Organiser was developed as a small pocket computer in the mid 1980's which would fit into a suit pocket. It runs on a standard square 9V battery which can last for months under normal use.
The Organiser has many built-in functions like save/retrieve data, a calculator, a diary, timekeeping, alarms, etc. Unlike modern handhelds, even programming is easy with OPL, which is a language quite similar to BASIC.
It was made from the mid eighties to early nineties, and over 500,000 of them were produced. A lot businesses are still using them everyday.
