Hello, Johnny Cash fans! Welcome to our auction. The next item up for bid is Lot #2k70063K, a piece of ephemera, the lyrics to FOLSOM PRISON BLUES, Johnny Cash hit, clipped from the August '56 issue of Country Song Roundup magazine. Copyright 1956; Hi Lo Music, it was published with permission in the magazine. This item is an actual clipping of the period, not a reproduction.
The clipping measures approximately 2½ x 5½ inches and shows some discoloration, probably due to aging. Overall, we feel that the piece is in GOOD to FAIR condition for its age. Of course, we cannot guarantee that this item has been kept in a smoke and/or pet free environment for the past 52 years. If this is of concern, you may wish to refrain from bidding on this object.
We acquired the publication from which we harvested this item as part of a box lot purchase in southern Indiana last summer. It was mixed with numerous pieces of sheet music and other items dating from the 20's thru the 50's. Unfortunately, we deemed the magazine itself to be too far gone to be salvaged as a whole, but decided to harvest several clippings which we thought collectors of this type of ephemera may be interested in. Regrettably, we have no other information concerning provenance it share regarding this particular object.
