Holiday Message

	UPDATE: owing to the closure of our local PO and the associated additional costs, I have been forced to increase my postage charges. (My nearest convenient PO is now a four-mile drive away, rather than a ten minute walk.) But, I will always combine postage charges, and will continue to keep them as low as possible. Since it now costs me up to £1.45 to post a single CD, (and I don't charge buyers anything for the packing materials) I think £1.49 is quite reasonable, don't you? :o)

Review

Between March 1962 and June 1965, the Beatles performed 52 times on the BBC's national radio channel, the Light Programme, (this was long before it was rebranded as Radio One.) As well as guesting on the perennial Saturday Club, they co-hosted Side By Side (with the now largely-forgotten Karl Denver Trio) and were given free rein in their own Pop Go The Beatles. Many of the songs performed were cover versions, taken from their extensive repertoire of favourite non-original songs.

This comprehensive double CD collection presents dozens of the group's BBC recordings, as well as the intros and banter with the presenters. For anyone old enough to remember the pre-MTV days before all-day-pop radio, it will bring back some happy memories. For those too young, it's a trip back to the sixties in the company of four of its most popular characters.
