Microsoft Guide to Buying Software:
Considering a purchase of software? Be sure you are not at risk of fake
software.
Did you know:
- Using counterfeit software means you are 4 times more likely to be
infected with viruses, trojan horses, spyware and malware which can lead
to internet fraud and identity theft.
Watch out for:
- Clear CD cases with labels/text on discs, these are fake.
- Beware of ‘back up’ CD’s or these words used in descriptions,
this is not an original.
- Do your research, don’t get caught out. If the software is too cheap,
it is probably fake.
Ensure you are getting:
- The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) this is a sticky label
- Microsoft Software Manual & Media
- End User License Agreement
Remember!
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) software is only for sale to System
Builders, be aware that by buying and installing OEM software yourself, you
