Selling Safely
Following are selling guidelines to help you sell safely on Tazbar:
Listing your item:
- Before you start selling, it is strongly advised that sellers become payment and telephone verified. Verification
is a step further in confirming your identity and creates trust within
the community.
- Make sure the items you are selling are not illegal or against Tazbar
rules and policies. Items in breach of Tazbar rules will be removed.
Check out Tazbar's prohibited items list here.
- Make sure you have right to sell the item you are listing i.e. it
does not infringe copyrights. Infringing listings that come to Tazbar's
notice will be removed.
- Keyword spamming eg. using brand names in listing titles that are not
related to the item being sold is not allowed.
- Be truthful when describing the item. Give a comprehensive description
of the item including its age, condition and any defects to avoid future
misunderstandings with buyers. Selling by deception is harmful to a
seller's reputation. Adding a clear and representative photo is essential
to list and sell successfully.
- Set a realistic postage and packaging charges. Charging
excessive postage costs is against Tazbar policies and may result in
listing removal or seller suspension.
- Always specify the countries you will send the item to. Clearly state
the P&P charges if they vary for different regions.
- You can place limitations on who can bid on your items i.e.
- Block bidders who are not from your own country
- Block bidders who have zero feedback
- Block a bidder by username
- Always send an item via recorded trackable delivery to protect
yourself. If selling internationally it is essential to insure the item
and arrange for a trackable delivery. The same guidelines are applicable
to high value items.
- If selling overseas it is essential to ascertain international laws
applicable to the item you are selling. Ensure the item will pass customs
regulations in the destination country.
- Offering payment methods requires some thought. To learn about safe
methods of accepting payment, visit the Payment Methods Guide.
- You can use the forums to get some vital selling help.
As the auction progresses:
- Knowing your bidders is key to a successful sale. Check the user's
feedback and profile (if they have a Seller Gallery). If the bidder has
negative feedback or if you do not want to ship to the country they are
from you can cancel their bids or block the bidder.
- Negotiating a deal outside of Tazbar is against Tazbar rules and
potentially unsafe.Tazbar prohibits email offers to buy or sell outside
of Tazbar. To report a user offering to buy or sell items outside Tazbar,
email support@tazbar.net forwarding any relevant email communication.
Engaging in off-site sales can result in account suspension.
- If someone bids by mistake on your auctions you have the option of
cancelling their bid.
- If a buyer buys the wrong quantity of items in a multiple item auction
using the 'Buy Now' button, contact Support support@tazbar.net to have
the bids cancelled and selling fees for cancelled sales refunded.
- Beware of 'African' based scammers. If the bidder offers more money than the
closing price or the Buy Now price of the item, they are likely to have
fraudulent intent. If the bidder asks for the item to be sent to a
location you wouldn't normally ship to or their communication is
suspicious / offensive, refuse to complete the sale and contact Tazbar
support at support@tazbar.net to request a refund of selling fees .
- If an item doesn't sell, you may choose to relist it until sold without charge
unless you have opted for relisting with original chargeable upgrades. Please see the 'Listing Upgardes' section in Help for further details.
When the auction is over:
- Once the auction is over, you will receive the buyer's registered
contact details including their email address.
- Most buyers are honest users and will make a payment as soon as they
win the item via an accepted online payment method. However, it is standard practice to allow 7 days for the
buyer to make a payment.
- If paying by cheque you may have to wait for upto seven days to receive
the cheque and approximately 3-4 days for it to clear. If the buyer is from
overseas it may take longer for funds to clear. The important thing to do
is to maintain good communication throughout.
- Do not despatch the item unless you are sure the payment has cleared in
your account. If necessary contact your bank/ payment processing company
(eg.Paypal) for guidance.
- Once the payment has cleared , despatch the item to the buyer's Tazbar
registered address or the one provided by your payment processing
company via trackable delivery to protect yourself against claims of
non-receipt. High value items or items sent overseas should be
insured.
- If the buyer is unresponsive, refuses to pay or does not pay within the
seven day limit, you can open a dispute via your Control Panel.
- Leave Feedback for the buyer. For feedback guidelines click
