WELCOME TO INDIGO-ISLAND

We're located on the beautiful west coast of Barbados in the Caribbean, from where we sell handcrafted jewellery and Caribbean crafts via our website, Tazbar and eBay.

Indigo

a. Any of various shrubs or herbs of the genus Indigofera in the pea family, having odd-pinnate leaves and usually red or purple flowers in axillary racemes.

b. A blue dye obtained from these plants or produced synthetically.

In 1625, Captain John Powell landed on the west coast of Barbados to claim the island for England in the name of King James I.

Many of the early settlers were misfits from English society including  gamblers and kidnappers. Younger sons of wealthy English families also came to Barbados to claim land, money, and a chance at starting a life of their own.

The first settlers planted crops such as tobacco, cotton, ginger, and indigo, in addition to producing their own food.

I moved from London to Barbados in the winter of 2003, swapping the city life for a life of sun, sea, cricket and rum punch! But there's only so much time you can spend lazing on the beach and so Indigo-Island was born in the summer of 2006.

Although we're located thousands of miles from most of our customers, we're only an email away.

We pride ourselves on offering the best customer service that we can, and treat all customers as we expect to be treated ourselves.
