I sell a number of completely different items under my Tazbar id and have been wondering if it would be better to split them up. Do you think it is better to specialise and use a number of different ids, one id for each item or combine everything under one id
Of course I would have to think about the costs as I couldn't afford a Sellers Gallery for every id. And also how easy is it to manage more than one selling id.
Then there is feedback, this would be look smaller for each id.

It's a difficult one.
I used to sell jewellery under 1 id elsewhere, then when the critters came along I had a separate id for them. But then Indigo started and it seemed silly to be selling here, there and over there with 3 different names. So one name for all. However my local sales of jewellery still go out under the other name rather than Indigo for various (too longwinded and not relevent) reasons.
Considerations for me are
cross selling - do people buy different things from you that you can easily combine?
do you use your name elsewhere (obviously its your name so yes you do, but you know what I mean) are you trying to build a name etc
faffage time - more things to look after and mess around with
So for me - one name wins but won't be the same for everyone
hi tony
we use 3 id,s as we run 3 different businesses the jewellery and crystals and personalised all go in one id and the craft and novelties and jokes go under another id as they are a seperate business with seperate books etc.
the other business is completly different as its a service industry and as such is kept apart from the other id,s and business.
thejewelleryshoppe is a tradename on its own and is very well known both in wales and on the web.
i would suggest using maybe 2 id,s one for watches, clocks and associated and another for the rest and build a tradename up with tonytime or similiar.

artyman:I think if your particular sphere is one sort of thing then perhaps another ID for general stuff may be an idea, if I was to say start having a general junk clearout sale, would I want to have that on my artyman ID.
Depends how you market it. One man's junk is another man's artytreasure.
While it may have advantages to those of you that have a highly specialized field such as original art works, I find that in my particular case it would serve no particular purpose. I would much prefer that people recognize the name as being associated with a wide variety of unique merchandise. Perhaps if I developed a totally unique creative line of something I might consider marketing it under its own name.
